Younousse, Tijan storm into Ostrava Elite16 semis

Doha, Qatar: Qatar’s beach volleyball stars Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan advanced to the semi-finals of the Ostrava Elite16 in the Czech Republic after recording two impressive victories yesterday.

The Tokyo Olympic bronze medalists first defeated Sweden’s Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson 21-19, 21-18 in the Round of 16 before overcoming Argentina’s Nicolas Capogrosso and Tomas Capogrosso in a hard-fought quarter-final.

After dropping the opening set 19-21, the Qatari duo bounced back to win the next two sets 21-15, 21-19 and secure their place in the last four.

The duo will face Sweden’s Olympic champions David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig in today’s semi-final.
